The Artist Who Tells the Best Story Wins: Talking About Your Art

Saturday, May 26th

10-2pm

Your art doesn’t speak for itself – you do.

Learning to talk about your work to anyone, anytime, anywhere pays big dividends.

The purpose of a persuasive conversation is to engage in conversation with people about their art tastes and leave them with good reasons to look closely at your work, s tell others about it and/or buy it.

Bring along a printed copy of your artist statement, your resume and a piece of art. You’ll practice presenting yourself, your accomplishments and your art so that you have easier, more enjoyable and effective conversations with potential buyers.

The Goldilocks Strategy for Pricing Your Art:

Create Your Own Pricing Formula

Saturday, June 23rd

10-Noon

Are you worried that your prices are “too high” or “too low”? “Guessing”, “Rules of Thumb” and “By-the-Inch” pricing are haphazard. Get your prices “just right” or you will be marketing like a character in a fairy tale. Price is more than a number.

Pricing is a marketing strategy. Gallery dealers and experienced collectors see enough art to have a built-in sense of an appropriate price. Credible prices for quality art will attract buyers and representatives.

Learn the mistakes to avoid; how to calculate your costs; how to set your prices; when to raise your prices; how to include gallery commissions; and how to handle requests for discounts. You will leave with a 10-factor formula that will give you the confidence to stand behind your prices and know what to include in a pricing policy.
